I absolutely love working with the team at Lexington Power Yoga and was psyched to photograph their amazing teachers once again for a day of barre and yoga mini sessions. I've highlighted a few previews from each for you all to enjoy.

You can join the LPY team in their 200 hour teacher training starting later this month! More information can be found here: LPY 200 hour teacher training.

As a side note, I feel incredibly lucky that Boston has such a strong yoga community. Traveling from studio to studio, I recognize both how unique each space is and at the same time how we are all one big collective community. I met Lorraine Shedoudi, co-owner of LPY {and first in the highlights below} back in 2011 when she led my 200 hour yoga teacher training at Prana Power Yoga in Cambridge and I feel so lucky to have stayed in touch with her ever since. I'll never forget the first morning meditation {my first ever meditation} and how much the next 8 weeks truly changed my life. Okay, enough of my yoga community gushing ... enjoy!

My Favorite Yoga Poses to Photograph {2016 Recap}

My yoga clients often ask me which poses photograph best and the answer, always, is ... it depends. I love to photograph the poses that make you smile completely, burst into laughter or simply feel all the feels. They're the ones that show people your personality and all of your uniqueness. Needless to say, this varies by yogi, by season, by day sometimes. So it's hard to give one generic answer. I want to capture the poses where you feel confident, happy, strong, tranquil, energized, etc. etc. etc. depending on what makes you you, how you want to market yourself, and truthfully, how you are feeling that day. I find new love for poses watching all of you explain to me why you love them, why you're hosting a workshop dedicated to them, or why you practice them for an extra 10 minutes at the end of class even when the teacher doesn't queue them. If you have a yoga photo shoot scheduled or you've been thinking about reaching out, take time to think about it. What makes you, you?

That said, this answer is often met with a half smile at best. So, with the it-depends-caveat in mind, I've put together a top 10 list for you of poses that I found absolutely beautiful to photograph this year.

Here are are my top ten poses to photograph in 2016!

I have all of my yoga clients include at least one seated pose in each session because I find simple seated postures to feel approachable to the viewer and show off your beautiful faces! These are great for marketing "about me" sections on your website.

A big thanks to all of my 2016 yoga clients! Included above in order of appearance, Anna Saluti, Whitney Fitzpatrick, Kathryn Ford Richter, Jessi Dellert, Rachel Hunt, Julia Tirabassi, Lynne Minchello, Stephanie Kirkos, Shauna Burke, Shanel Anderson and Theresa Laham

Cambridge, MA Yoga Photo Shoot {Barre & Soul Teacher Trainee Mini Sessions}

Lately, I have been thinking about how incredibly fortunate I am to have the energy that surrounds me in my work. From my amazing clients' infectious smiles and their calming and energizing natures, to the beautiful studios and breathtaking scenic Boston locations, and even to my light-filled home office and snuggly kitty, I am able to soak in so much love and so much positivity. I am truly thankful for this every day. Places like Barre & Soul Harvard Square energize me. They calm me. They leave me smiling ear to ear as I walk back to my car and commute home. I was able to work with their yoga teacher trainees earlier this week for a series of mini sessions and between the space and the people, I can't tell you how fortune I feel to be doing what I do. What an incredible group of women! I hope you enjoy these previews.

Congratulations to the teacher trainees on graduating from you 200 hour yoga teacher training program!

You can learn more about the yoga and barre teacher training offered at Barre & Soul, right here. And, for those asking about the gorgeous hair braid on the beautiful Catyn Piven (fuschia pants, infectious smile), she was styled by the super talented Amanda Andella.)
