Frequently Asked Questions About Yoga Photo Shoots

How far in advance should I book my photo shoot?

  • I advise clients to reach out 6-8 weeks in advance. Contact me to inquire.

How do I pick a location?

  • Think about how you plan to use your photographs and what image you'd like to portray. Narrow down to indoor versus outdoor. For indoor shoots, consider the studio where you mainly teach or practice. For outdoor locations, think about areas that are meaningful to you. We can talk more about this at our consultation.

  • Travel for photo shoots is included up to 15 miles from Westport, CT.

What do I wear to my photo shoot?

  • Wear what you feel comfortable in. You will photograph beautifully when you're wearing something that you feel beautiful in. Consider the outfit in context with the location.

  • You don't have to wear yoga clothing. I've shot some beautiful yogis in jeans, fall boots, converse sneakers, and even dresses.

  • Please avoid neon, tight patterns like thin stripes and checkers, and old, ripped, or stained clothing.

  • Feel free to bring an outfit change to the photo shoot but be mindful of complicated wardrobe changes especially if we are shooting at a location that does not have private areas to change. Also note that the more time you spend changing outfits, the less time you spend being photographed.

  • Studio Shoots - If you would like your teachers to wear studio branded apparel, a particular color, etc. please advise them well in advance of the shoot date and bring back up apparel to have on hand.

Should I make a pose list? How do I know what poses to choose?

  • If you know that you want a particular pose or pose sequence photographed, definitely share that list with me and bring it with you to the shoot. Think about upcoming classes and workshops and if you would like to market those with these photographs.

  • There is no need to create a list if you don't have certain poses in mind . We can "free flow" and talk about poses at the shoot.

  • You can view my Asana Library to get ideas.

Can I bring props?

  • Of course! Let me know any props you'd like to incorporate. This can range from mala beads to therapeutic bolsters.

When do I receive my photographs?

  • Photos are delivered within 3 weeks of your shoot date. Rush options are available.

What time of day do you recommend for our photo shoot?

  • If outdoors, the most beautiful photographs are taken about an hour before sunset, during "golden hour". I will recommend an exact time to you based on the sun down time of that season. If indoors, we can typically shoot any time during daylight hours. Studios often have time available between the lunch time classes and early evening classes.

Can we read reviews from previous clients?

How does payment work?

  • Payment may be made by check or credit card.

  • If you decide to add something additional the day of your shoot, i.e. more time, payment can be made the same day.

Are there any additional costs to my photo shoot?

  • Everything is included in the total price.

  • The only additional cost would be if you would like to be photographed at a location farther than 15 miles from Westport, CT. The travel charge is minimal and depends on the distance.

Should I have my hair and makeup done professionally for the session?

  • It's entirely up to you. It's not necessary at all. If it's fun for you, go for it!

How do I give credit of your work when I use the images?

  • Please include “Photo Credit: Tracy Rodriguez Photography” where possible and appropriate. Also, please tag Tracy Rodriguez Photography on social media.

Where can we learn more about you?

  • To get to know me better, you can read my story here and definitely reach out to schedule a consultation!
