My philosophy

Oh how I just love this. When I was working corporate I knew I had to make a change for more than just myself. One of my goals with Tracy Rodriguez Photography is to show others that it's possible. It's possible to follow your dreams, to make them your day-to-day life, to create something from nothing, to build a brand, a business, a life that you love. It's not all shiny roses, but it's totally and completely amazing to learn how to hustle and run with it all. If you are holding onto a dream, I challenge you to take one step today towards that dream. And then feel what that feels like. <3

Award winning moment

Two weeks ago I received an email from Wedding Wire and nearly tossed it out as spam. I thoughtlessly opened it.

And then I saw this.

What a moment.

While I have been behind my camera for 15 years and shooting professionally part time for 4 of those years, I only just left my corporate job to take this show on the road 10 months ago. So, I just didn't expect to win anything anytime soon. I was truly shocked.

These past 10 months have been amazing. My first full wedding season in 2014 felt like what can only be described as the honeymoon phase of owning a new business. Thankfully, I'm still riding in that bliss and have a feeling that I will for a really, really long time. In my 2014 season, I got to work with really incredible, beautiful people. The kind of people who have become my friends. The kind of people who write make-me-smile-ear-to-ear reviews. The kind of people who gave me this award.

I cannot tell you how much I thank you, not just for the reviews and the award, but for all of the moments; for bringing me into your life, into your family, into your wedding day. I feel honored that I was chosen to capture it. I feel honored to have been a part of countless award winning moments.

To all my dreamer friends, my craft makers, my yoga studio owners, trust that when you follow your dream, when you pour your heart and soul into it, you will be recognized for it. And you'll wake up every morning feeling so extremely lucky to be doing what you love. You'll bear witness to many, many award winning moments, including when you receive your first award.

Photo Shoot w/ Nicole Baas Photography

One of the best pieces of advice I've received as a photographer is to be photographed myself - often, and by different photographers. My goal is to step into my clients' shoes at least once a year so that I can experience the feeling of being photographed.

You'd think after 100's of photo shoots behind the camera, I'd feel comfortable on the other side. Well, let me tell you, it was a lot scarier than I thought! But the best thing about a great photographer, like Nicole Baas, is the ability to make someone feel at ease. We ended up having a lot of fun!
