Giverny, Saint-Émilion and Aubeterre, France Captured by Tracy Rodriguez {Prints Available for Purchase}

Normally when you click over to my blog, you'll see photographs of yogis all around Boston and couples saying their I do's, but today I want to share with you a personal trip I took with my husband Thomas two years ago to the south of France. It's been completely lovely to revisit these images after so much time has passed. The main focus of the trip was for our friend's wedding, my husband was the best man, but of course {insert French accent here, anyone?} I couldn't leave my camera behind.

{And, if you know me well, you'll know that I don't bring my camera, or even take out my phone for that matter, when I attend weddings as a guest. Research actually shows that you remember events better when you're not behind your camera or phone. I always want to be fully present. And, let's be honest, I don't want to get in the photographer's way either. I'd rather he or she document the bride and groom without a sea of phones and cameras and if I'm being photographed, I'd rather it be of me laughing or tearing up than holding a phone in front of my face. But, I digress.}

Without further ado, please enjoy some photographs from our trip. You can click any image below to enlarge it and then tab through to view more while still enlarged. And if you'd like to make a purchase, prints are available for sale in the gallery linked below.

We arrived in Paris with mostly wedding events so my camera stayed tucked away in the city of love, but, my personal request for the trip was for Thomas and I to sneak off one morning to Monet's Gardens in Giverny. You'll see a few photographs from that excursion to start. While it's set up as a major tourist attraction now, it was still pretty incredible to see Monet's home and his famous water lilies.

The scenic view shots take us south with a quick stop in Saint-Émilion for lunch. We then traveled to our main destination in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, Chateau Le Mas de Montet. Most of my photographs are of this beautiful castle and quaint town.  Even if only for a short while, it was definitely an unforgettable experience to live in a chateau in the south of France.

Where have you all been traveling lately? Are you like me and have images from years past? I encourage you to dig them up and relive a bit of your wanderlust.

Much love,

Tracy

My Birthday Day Trip to Mystic, CT w/ My Mama

How often is it that you pinpoint on a map what's halfway between you and me and land on a quaint little town with the perfect pizza place for lunch? Last Saturday, to celebrate my 30th birthday, that's exactly what my mama and I did and it was lovely. Growing up in Fairfield County {Connecticut} I can't believe I had never been to Mystic before. It's simply adorable and the beauty of the water and marina on this visit had me at first glance. Covered in snow from the blizzard the night before, there was something so serene about it all. We dined at Pizzetta, had lattes and hot cocoa at Bartleby's and shopped for spices at The Spice and Tea Exchange of Mystic. I picked out a sweet and a hot smoked paprika and the world's hottest hot black peppercorns, the latter for my husband. Next trip, we'll have to try Mystic Pizza, the Aquarium and the Mystic Arts Center. I'm so happy that we found this little town and were able to spend the day together.

I brought along my Canon 5D Mark III and Sigma 35 mm Art lens to snap a few scenic winter shots of downtown Mystic and the drawbridge over Mystic River. Enjoy!
